Set among green mountains and tea-covered hills, Ella is one of Sri Lanka’s most popular destinations for scenic exploration. The town is surrounded by dramatic viewpoints, forested slopes and winding trails, with highlights including Ella Rock, Little Adam’s Peak and the Nine Arch Bridge. A walk through the hills offers beautiful views across valleys and plantations, while the famous train journey between Kandy, Nanu Oya and Ella adds another memorable way to experience the highlands. Ella can be visited throughout the year, although January to April are often more favourable for hiking and outdoor activities, depending on local weather conditions.
