Hikkaduwa is a lively beach town known for its surfing, coral reefs and colourful marine life. The Hikkaduwa National Park offers opportunities for snorkelling and exploring the reef, while the coastline is also popular for swimming, diving and surfing. Beyond the beach, Hikkaduwa has a lively collection of restaurants, cafés, shops and small seaside establishments. For beach conditions and surfing, the main season is generally November to March, when the south-west coast experiences its drier period and the sea is more favourable.
